Social Welfare Institute is a charitable and Social Service Society of the Diocese of Raiganj and its area of operation include Malda, Uttar Dinajpur and Dakshin Dinajpur districts of West Bengal. The Institute was established with the aim of bringing about a society where love, peace and equality are lived and experienced by all.
During the Indo – Pak war in 1971, nearly 2 million refugees from Bangladesh landed up in North Bengal for asylum; government machineries were unable to meet the needs of the refugees. Due to heavy influx of refugees, basic needs such as food, shelter and medical care collapsed. People of North Bengal faced innumerable problems. So immedietly the diocese of Dumka, feeling the dire needs of the people rushed for help; as a result

We have conducted the staff training on Project Goal and Objectives on 8/6/2024 at Social Welfare Institute office campus. On this training Director Fr. Benedict Toppo was the main trainer.
We are establishing Child Help Desks in rural areas to ensure every child’s safety and well-being. Our volunteers provide guidance, protection, and access to essential support services.
